What’s New
As of April 2009, the whole site is technically “new”. But as far as information is concerned, we have started transcribing vital statistics. Currently, we are working on Floyd County Deaths. The year 1949 is complete as of April 24, 2009. Included are names of the deceased, maiden names, date and location of death, and burial location.
A Brief History of Floyd County
Floyd County was formed on August 21, 1876 by the Texas legislator from it’s parent county, Bexar County. Any record prior to 1876 would have to be in the Bexar County Courthouse. Floyd County is named in honor of Dolphin Ward Floyd who fought and died while defending the Alamo on March 6, 1836. The county seat is Floydada.
Floyd County Archive
What is the Floyd County Archive? The Floyd County Archive is maintained by Dorman Holub, Floyd County Archive Manager. In the archive is information on bible records, cemeteries, census, land, military records, etc. This archive houses all main files. Anyone can submit information to the archive. Any information submitted to the archive stays there permanently and can never be deleted so that researchers can always find information.
